Yoga Fuel

By Fitnspicy @fitnspicy

The first time you do a 90 minute hot yoga class can be a little intimidating, or very intimidating. I was nervous! Of all the previous classes I had attended this was the longest. 90 full minutes in a hot and humid room at 7:30 on a Saturday morning. Sounds like torture to some but I loved it. I felt incredible after; my mind was clear, my body was feeling very strong and there is something cleansing about sweating for that long.

Normally I don’t eat in the morning before working out, it is early and seems so unappetizing. But I do understand that my body needs fuel, especially for a full 90 minute class. I was sent Gatorade G-Series Prime Chews and figured this would be the best opportunity to try them. I was going about and beyond a normal workout and needed a little fuel before attempting this class. I picked the cool blue flavor and ate the pack about 20 minutes before yoga. They were sweet and almost tasted like fruit snacks. Not something I would normally eat in the morning but pretty tasty and I do feel like they gave me a little more energy before yoga. I stuck to my normal routine and made sure I was hydrated during and after yoga and came home and made a breakfast of tea, toast with peanut butter and 2 hardboiled eggs. Did the chews make a huge difference? I’m not really sure but I do know that I didn’t feel as tired during yoga.

I would turn to these again if I was heading to another 90 minute class or doing a longer than normal workout. Gatorade products are made for athletes and my normal 45-60 minute workout isn’t quite athlete level, a 90 minute class or 2 classes in a row are.
