What’s this? Why, it’s another round of What’s In That Bulu Box?!

Bulu Box is a subscription box filled with health and fitness goodies. Each month you get a custom box filled with 5+ samples from top health/fitness brands. You earn points for each box you get and can get even more points for taking product surveys. You can then use said points to purchase full-sized versions of your favorite products. Some boxes are winners. Some are just ok – but I love the surprise of healthy goodies, getting to test them out, and share my thoughts with you.
The latest box wasn’t as great as the last one, but I still enjoyed trying some new-to-me goodies. Let’s take a peek inside, shall we?
Sant Dried Superfruit Beverage - These are little pieces of dried fruit that get infused into your water, adding flavor and a boost of antioxidants. Apparently, the fruit also helps promote digestion, sleep, mood, skin, manage weight, neutralize ph levels, and stabilize cholesterol. Holy moly! I added this to my water at work, and while I can’t tell you I felt all of those effects, I will say it was tasty. Would I buy it? No.
VitaPerk - VitaPerk is a 15 vitamin and mineral coffee boost that can be added to any cup of coffee. Apparently, it helps support memory, energy and heart health, and is offered in four varieties: Original, Vanilla, Hazelnut and Energy. It’s gluten free, kosher, naturally flavored and only 5 calories per serving. I tried Hazelnut in my coffee last week, and it was tasty. It gave my coffee just the right amount of flavor without added sweetness. Would I buy it? Nah. I’ll stick with my classic cup ‘o joe.
Barlean’s Omega Swirl Fish Oil - Good ‘ol Barlean’s. Good to see you in my box again, old pal. Barlean’s tends to sneak into my Bulu Box about once every 3 months or so. I don’t mind. It’s tasty. This time around I got Lemon Zest. I mixed it into my morning oats and topped it with a banana and almond butter. DELISH! Would I buy it? Nope, but only because I keep getting samples in my Bulu Box!
Calsura - Instead of hard-to-swallow calcium supplement pills, Calsura Fast Action Drink Tablets dissolve and fizz up into water, making it easy to get 50% of your daily recommended requirements for calcium and vitamin D. It’s also a good source of vitamin C, iron and magnesium. Each drink tablet can be mixed into a normal water bottle and contain no added sugar, artificial colors or preservatives. I tried the Blueberry Acai last week. It was alright, but I’m not a huge fan of fizzy flavored water to begin with. Would I but it? Nah.
Lentil Crackers - I was really excited for these gluten free crackers, but when I read the ingredient list, I realized they weren’t lactose free. Whomp whomp. Would I buy it? No.
Balance Bare - I don’t think I can have normal Balance Bars, but these new Bare Bars are gluten and soy free! WIN! Each bar is made with whole GMO free foods like nuts and real fruit. I was excited to try the Sweet & Spicy Nut Flavor that came in my box, but I gave it to AnnMarie ’cause homegirl was starving after her flight in. Would I buy it? If AnnMarie gives it a glowing review I might have to go try one. Soooo the pressure’s on you, AnnMarie!
Overall, this box was pretty underwhelming. I realize now that most of the products were meant to mixed into beverages. A conspiracy to get me to drink more?! I’m not fooled, Bulu Box. I am not fooled. Conspiracy or not, I don’t think I’ll be purchasing full sized versions of anything. Ya can’t win ‘em all, right? Luckily, each box only costs $5, so I’m not all that upset about it.
