Video: Passing Through the Khumbu Icefall

Posted on the 15 April 2019 by Kungfujedi @Kungfujedi

During the Everest climbing season we often make reference to a location on the South Side of the mountain known as the Khumbu Icefall. This treacherous section of the climb is one of the most terrifying areas for most climbers who have to pass over large crevasses using ladders that are laid horizontally over the open cracks in the ice. In this video, we travel to the icefall to witness it first hand. You'll see what it is like for mountaineers to descend through this wild place, which is equal parts beautiful and dangerous at the same time.
