Video: NASA Celebrates 30th Anniversary of the Pale Blue Dot

Posted on the 17 February 2020 by Kungfujedi @Kungfujedi

Last week marked the 30th anniversary of the iconic Pale Blue Dot photo taken of the Earth by the Voyager I spacecraft from 3.7 billion (6 billion km) out in space. At the time, it was the furthest out that a photo of our planet was ever taken and it helped put our place in the universe into perspective. When it was released to the public, that image was accompanied by some stirring words written by astronomer Carl Sagan. Today, those words are just as important and impactful as they were three decades ago, a reminder that this is our planet and it is the only one we've got. This video, share that photo, Sagan's narration and some insights into a look at our world that changed the way we perceive ourselves.
