Video: Cape Town – Scenes From a Dry City

Cape Town, South Africa is in the midst of a severe water crisis. In 2018, it was announced that the city was just weeks away from "Day Zero," the name given to the day that it would run out of water completely. That day didn't come, but the city continues to teeter on the edge of disaster as the months of little rainfall stretch on. In this video, we get a first hand look at the impact that lack of water is having on the landscapes there. It is a place that is parched, dry, and cracking, yet starkly beautiful at the same time. As climate change begins to shift weather patterns and redirect moisture, the images seen in this clip may become more common in other parts of the world.
