Video: Cairo to Cape Town by Bike in 41 Days

Posted on the 22 July 2019 by Kungfujedi @Kungfujedi

I've said it many times before, but I'll say it again anyway. My dream trip is to travel from Cairo to Cape Town, overland through Africa. In this video, I can do that without leaving the comfort of home. In it, we join adventurer Mark Beaumont as he rides his bike between these two cities, spending 41 days on the road exploring everything that the African continent has to offer. Along the way, he covered 6762 miles (10,819km), notched 190,355 feet of climbing, and averaged 160 miles per day. He also spent 439 hours in the saddle, setting a new speed record for the crossing on a bike. The clip above gives you a sense of what that adventure was like. Does anyone want to go for a ride?
