The next time you find yourself in sunny Los Angeles, be sure to hit up the best healthy spots in West Hollywood! The Best Healthy Spots In West Hollywood

By the time this post goes live, I'll be just landing back in NYC. While I was out in California for work, I did have a bit of downtime to do some exploring. My hotel and the production stage I was working at were in West Hollywood, so I got to know the neighborhood pretty well. I thought it would be fun on this fine Fit & Fashionable Friday to put together a list of some of the healthy places I hit up to sweat it out and fuel up in West Hollywood.

  • SoulCycle WEHO - If you follow me on Snapchat (@fitfulfocus), you may have seen that I hit up SoulCycle for a Backstreet Boys vs. N'Sync ride. It. Was. Epic. And so much fun! I always have a blast at SoulCycle, so this was a really nice treat. If you've never been to SoulCycle, your first class is only $20!
  • Brick LA - Unfortunately, I didn't make it out to my CrossFit gym's LA location, which is a bummer because it was only about a mile from my hotel. I signed up for one class, but work ended up running late. Whomp whomp. Hopefully I'll be able to hit it up next time. If you're into CrossFit, definitely put this on your studios-to-hit-up list. This location also offers boot camps, kickboxing and yoga classes.
  • Hike in Griffith Park - If you feel like being a little touristy while also getting in a workout, head to Griffith Park and hike up to the Hollywood Sign. It takes about 45 minutes to get up and then another 45 minutes back down, but there are other trails you can do if you want a longer hike. It's a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
  • Hike in Runyon Canyon -Runyon Canyon is currently closed until June, but I did have the opportunity to run up to the Canyon last year. There are a ton of great trails that provide fantastic views of the city.

  • Run the Hollywood Walk of Fame - Get star struck by running along the Hollywood Walk of Fame! It was a two mile run to this star-studded attraction for me, making for a great 4 mile out and run. It is a bit hilly, but hey, I'm always up for a challenge.

First things first, LA has been FABULOUS with all of my food allergies. I've been going out to eat quite a bit, which is nerve racking. However, I've found that almost every restaurant has not only been asking the table about food allergies before I even have to bring it to their attention, but they've also been great about making modifications for me. I haven't felt like my food allergies have been an inconvenience, which is really really nice. The following restaurants are some of my new faves:

  • Hugo's - I am OBSESSED with this place and want them to open up a NYC branch STAT. They label everything as vegetarian, vegan, gluten free and/or nut free, and they are also fantastic with other food allergies. I had their Almond Energy Pancakes, and it was was the first time I had pancakes that I didn't have to make myself in YEARS. And they were incredible. I proceeded to order from this place for lunch every day while I was working. Everything I had was amazing and left my tummy feeling just fine.
  • Sushi Park - A co-worker took everyone to this small little sushi place. The sign outside boasts "no trendy sushi," including no California rolls and no spicy tuna rolls. This is great for me, because all those mayo-clad fried rolls are unhealthy, not allergy friendly and straight up just not real sushi. This place was pure and authentic. We got the chef's choice, so they just brought us out the freshest sushi and sashimi. It was so amazing - and so healthy - just fish and rice. You don't need all that tempura and soy sauce to make for a good dish.

  • Red O - Everyone in Cali brags that the state has the best Mexican food, so I couldn't leave without trying some, right? A few co-workers and I headed to this cute place on Melrose for dinner one evening and left very impressed. Mexican can get unhealthy quickly if you go for fried dishes or things loaded with cheese, but we managed to stay pretty healthy. We shared some ceviche and then I got Camarones Al Mojo De Ajo (basically shrimp and rice). The shrimp were grilled to perfection and the rice was slightly sweetened with little chunks of plantains - yum to the max.
  • Pressed Juicery - Traveling and working long hours can be a recipe for getting sick, so each day on set, we've had fresh Pressed Juicery juices on hand to keep the sickness at bay. They are fresh, delicious and make for the perfect mid-morning snack. Just be sure to mix it up with juices that contain greens and hearty ingredients, vs pure fruit juices that can start to get high in sugar.
