Physical and chemical factors that may cause stress include trauma, infections, toxins, illnesses, and injuries of any type. Emotional causes of stress and tension are numerous and varied. Even though many people associate the term stress with psychological stress, scientists and physicians use this term to indicate any force that impairs the stability and balance of bodily functions.
Most teens experience more stress once they perceive a situation as dangerous, difficult, or painful plus they do not have the resources to cope. Stress can negatively impact our health, our kids, our marriage, and our work.

Leave time for relaxing
Don’t overbook yourself. Be selective concerning the activities you choose for yourself and your family members. Kids need time to unwind, just like adults. Stressed parents can make stressed children. Enjoy relaxing with your kids. Have some fun playing board games, going for walks, or watching movies together. Also keep in mind taking time to relax by yourself or with friends. Get yourself a babysitter and enjoy some kid spare time!
Set Goals
It all starts with goal setting. Setting goals may not seem like a big deal, but when you set realistic, long term goals, then you’ll have something you’re always working towards – something which will make you happy when you reach it. Attempt to start setting goals for stuff that will take place as you get older, like learning a new language, learning to play the guitar, or perhaps trying out some type of art form. It’s certainly not that important what you do.
Eat healthy
Junk food (poker chips, candy bars, soft drinks) actually steals from you energy. It gives you an initial rush by increasing your blood sugar quickly, and quickly, your blood sugar will drop. You’ll feel good and have more energy should you eat fresh fruits and vegetables and drink plenty of water. When you really need a little pick-me-up, instead of reaching for a bag of chips, try a slice of pizza or some peanut butter crackers. Carbohydrates and protein is more efficient than sugar and caffeine.
Get enough sleep
Are you aware that many teens are sleep deprived? Experts say that most teenagers need a minimum of nine hours of sleep each night in order to be well-rested and healthy, but only about one in ten actually gets much. Between school, work, family, extra-curricular activities, along with a social life, it’s hard to find time for much sleep. Make an effort, though. It’s worth it.
Exercise regularly
If you play sports or take gym class, you might already be getting enough exercise. If not, try and be more physically active. Exercise is a superb way to let off steam and lower stress. When you exercise your brain produces endorphins, that are natural chemicals that make you feel good.
Start a hobby
Some hobbies may include crafts, gardening, reading, or playing music. Participating inside a hobby is also good role modeling for your kids. Help your child be interested in a hobby or participate in a hobby along with your child. Hobbies can be great outlets for stress. Have a class to learn more about your hobby.
