I typically tackle my long training runs in the morning. I do this for two reasons.

  1. It's cooler outside in the morning.
  2. Most races start early, so it's good practice for race day.

I typically don't eat anything before short morning runs, but long training runs and big races are a different animal. These bites contain the oats I love to fuel up with as well as the almond butter I like to mix in. They also have a touch of green-banana flour which doesn't actually taste like bananas but does provide me with the necessary potassium I need to avoid mid-run cramps.
