As a runner, I'm all about the race bling. If a race doesn't have good bling, sometimes it isn't even worth running - mmIright?!
Runner's World wrote an article a few months ago about the coolest race bling, and I've added a few races to my bucket list because of it. Today I'm here to share my favorite race bling. Take a gander and see if you want to add any of these blingtastic medals to your collection.
The bell on this bad boy actually rings! After your race, you can summon family members to bring you all the food and order you a massage as you lay in bed with your compression socks on. Ding ding. Oh mother, may I please have more tart cherry juice?! Perhaps mix it into a recovery smoothie and bring it to me on a tray. Ding ding.
True story: I was wearing my 10K Medal around The Magic Kingdom after the race and some dude came up to me and asked me where I got it. I told him it was from a race and he seemed disappointed that he couldn't just go to the gift shop and buy it. Sorry buddy, you gotsta earn this bad boy! I love my collection of Disney Character medals, especially Dopey! Plus, with the Dopey Challenge you end up with 6 medals from one weekend. What other race offers all that bling?
3. The NYC Half Marathon Medal (2012 edition)
There's nothing particularly "cool" about this medal, but it was the first race medal I ever received. This is the medal that got me hooked on running all the races for all the bling. It's my gateway bling, so to speak. I'm so happy I was able to run this race again last weekend.
Proof that you don't need to run a gazillion miles to earn a killer medal. This 5K medal is MASSIVE. It's bigger than my Disney medals - and those are pretty hefty. This medal also has a special place in my heart because it was the first race I ever did with my Mom. She busted her butt for that race, so I'm glad she got a solid piece of bling out of it. Also - what other 5K offers such a badass medal?!
