My twelfth half marathon and my last race of the year is coming up this weekend! Last race of the year-when did that happen? The speed of time passing aside, I'm pretty excited to run the Rock'n'Roll San Antonio Half. It'll be my second Rock'n'Roll race, and I've heard it's a great one.
I took all of 2017 to refocus on enjoying running vs. pushing for PRs, and this race is no different. That said, I do have a few goals in mind for my final race of the year.
Stick with my run/walk plan. I've been training with Jeff Galloway's Run/Walk method and have been really enjoying it. I ran my first race with run/walk intervals back in September. I finished that race feeling super strong, so I decided to stick with it for this training cycle. I plan on running the first two miles, then switching to intervals (4:00 run/:30 walk), and running the entire last mile.
Run a sub 2:00. I haven't run a sub-two hour marathon in quite a while. I'm not looking to PR this race (my half marathon PR is 1:53:40 set in 2015), but I would really like to see a 1 at the start of my finish time.
Have fun! I have this goal for every race. Why do it if it's not fun, right? I plan to take in the San Antonio scenery, enjoy the course, and rock out to the music-it's a Rock'n'Roll Race after all!
