Last fall I wrote an extensive review of the Stacked wireless charging case for the iPhone. At the time, I lauded the product for being a convenient way to keep your smartphone charged without having to fumble around for cables. I also loved the fact that it was a modular system that allowed it to work in your car, at home, or while on the road too, using a powerful magnet to quickly and easily connect to a variety of accessories, including portable power banks, as well as chargers that plug into your wall, as well as your car.
Since I wrote that review, I've only grown to enjoy the Staked system further. I use it almost daily in my car, and at the end of each day, I charge my phone with it as well. In fact, the only time I've found it to be anything but a joy to use, have been when traveling, when I have wished for a way to use an Apple lightning cable to charge my phone without having to remove the case. This was something I mentioned in the initial review as well.
Over time, as I've used the case, one other thing began to stick out. Adding a Stacked wireless charging case to your phone does add a bit of extra size to the device, particularly to its length. I mentioned this briefly in the initial review, but at the time it didn't bother me too much. The longer I used it however, the more I wished that the case were somewhat smaller. Thankfully, the team that designed it seem to have heard my prayers, as they have found a way to slim down the case nicely, making it much more manageable on a day to day basis.
Awhile back, I received the latest edition of the case for iPhone 6S, and was happy to see that it has been trimmed down pretty much in all dimensions. In fact, it is reportedly the smallest wireless charging option available for Apple's smartphone, which is admittedly a rather small market at the moment. Still, I was very happy to see updated version, as my phone is now more pocketable again and is a tad smaller and lighter with the case installed as well. In other words, it is the same great performance I liked out of the original model, just slimmed down nicely.
Unfortunately, Stacked still hasn't added a lightning cable pass-through option as I would have liked, which remains a top request on my part. But over the course of the few months that I've been using it, that has mostly become less of an issue. As a frequent traveler who often has to deal with a wide variety of different types of outlets however, it remains something I'd love to see.
Also, one word of advice, when ordering the Stacked system, I'd recommend going with the black model. My first case was white, and while it looked good, it was a real challenge to keep clean sometimes. The black version hide the dirt better and quite honestly compliments the iPhone better too, in my opinion.
The Stacked wireless charging bundle, which includes the case itself, a wireless wall adapter, and a compatible 2000 mAh battery pack, sells for $74. That's a real bargain for a case that provides excellent protection for your mobile device while also bringing wireless charging to the table as well. That's a feature that is rumored to be a part of the new iPhone 8 coming later this year, but you can add it to your existing phone now.
