February is off to quite a crazy start. I was in Switzerland for work (my day job that is) the past few days. In fact, I'm writing this on the long plane ride back to Austin. I wish I'd had more time in Europe, but fortunately I'll be back over that way in May for my honeymoon!
Anywho, now that we're already a week into February (I really have no idea how that happened), it's time to set some new goals for the month! But first, as always, a look back at January.
January Goals Recap
10,000 steps a day - I started off the month strong, getting in 10,000 steps nearly every day. But then work started to get really busy, and I started being at my desk more and more. I need to figure out a way to get in my steps no matter how busy the day gets. Even though I try to stand throughout the day, it's not good to be inactive for so long.
Build hip & glute strength - I did start doing more exercises, but I could certainly get better.
Launch the podcast - SUCCESS! Check out the first three episodes here, here and here! They're also available on Soundcloud and i Tunes.
Finalize wedding details - We did some! We picked out our dessert menu and a few other things, but there's still more to do.
Now onto some new goals!
10,000 steps a day - I will master this goal this month! It's not difficult on my running days, but on days that I cross train, I don't get in nearly as many steps. I'm thinking of adding quick running warm ups and cool downs to my strength training days to add steps and get my body going before I start doing a tough workout. I should be doing that anyway, right? RIGHT!
Make a workout plan and stick to it - Ever since running the 3M Half, I haven't been sticking to much of a workout routine. I've still been working out, but I wake up and just kind of play my workouts by ear. That almost always means not getting in as good a workout as I could. With another half coming up in only two weeks, another in a little over a month, and a wedding in May, I need to get my but in gear! So, today, I'm going to sit down and write down a workout plan for the next few weeks.
NUTRITION GOALS
Try three new recipes from other food bloggers - I have SO many great recipes saved from my fellow food bloggers, and I have yet to try 99.9% of them. This month, I want to try at least three. If you've got one you want me to try, leave a link in the comments!
Create three new recipes this month - I also want to challenge myself to create three new recipes this month. Not only will this help me bring a lot of the ideas I have brewing to life, but it will also help me get ahead of my blog posting schedule.
Show Annmarie a good time - Annmarie, my amazing Wild Workout Wednesday & Runners Who Wine co-host will be here TOMORROW! I'm so pumped! That means this weekend, no work beyond working toward our podcast goals. It also means having a fun, relaxing time with my blogging bestie. And lots of wine, of course!
Start learning the guitar again - You probably don't know this about me, but I've ALWAYS wanted to play the guitar. In fact, when I was 16, I saved up and bought myself one. I took lessons for a bit, but I haven't retained any of what I've learned. My guitar came with me to college, it was at my first apartment, it came to Brooklyn, and now it's in Austin. And I still haven't learned to play!
File my taxes - Bleh. But it must get done.
