Adventure racing gets me to some beautiful places and CP8 on the Aveyron Adventure Race is one of those.
The checkpoint is set up at St. Jean le Froid - a chapel and hermitage which used to be inhabited by a monk, but which is the setting for a transition from trek to bike this morning.
The stone chapel sits on top of a hill with a 360 degree view of the surrounding countryside and German Cuevas, Anne-Marie Dunhill and myself set up camp to wait for the teams to arrive. Despite the name it isn't cold, but it is a very windy spot!
The leaders came in just after sunrise and they too were enjoying the view.
