Costa Rica Here We Come

By Rob Howard @adventurenet
Costa Rica Here We ComeCosta Rica is the venue for this year's Adventure Racing World Championships, and plans are well advanced for a very spectacular race, which is sure to be exceptionally tough - as an ARWC should be.

There is still half of this year's AR World Series to come, with races in Brazil, Spain, Australia and the U.S.A., allowing elite teams final chances to qualify, and for those not at that level a few places are still available as wild card entries.

The race itself will go' Coast to Coast and Border to Border' as teams cross the country from the Pacific to the Caribbean coast and from Costa Rica-Nicaragua’s border to Costa Rica-Panama’s border; completing an 815km route through an amazing range of eco-systems and terrain.

The organisers have obviously made it their mission to show off the whole of their country in one go, and that's a great way to define the course - the best races are always a journey of discovery with a specific objective.

For a small country Costa Rica has a great adventure sports tradition and by all accounts the people are very open and welcoming to visitors, and support their events and athletes with great enthusiasm.

It is all set up for a memorable race to finish off the year and you can read the latest news on plans for the race on the site here.
