A few months ago, I scored my first pair of Brooks running shoes at The Running Event. They quickly became my go-to kicks for logging miles and helped me snag a new 10K PR.
So when I was offered the chance to try another pair of Brooks shoes thanks to my partnership with BibRave, I was pumped to say the least. The shoes arrived on my birthday, so of course I laced up and logged some birthday miles.
First impression of the Brooks Glycerin 17s
First, I love the design. The purple, navy and orange combo and DNA pattern on the sides is so pretty.
After taking my first few steps, I immediately noticed how comfortable these shoes are. They hug my foot just right, feel light, and are incredibly comfortable. I felt like they were broken in before they were even broken in.
What makes the Brooks Glycerin 17s different?
Super soft cushioning! The Brooks Glycerin 17s have DNA LOFT cushioning, which provide a luxurious feeling without losing the functionality of a running shoe.
They also have what Brooks calls a DNA Loft transition zone to help every step feel soft and smooth from heel to toe.
Last but not least, these babies have a plush fit thanks to the Ortholite sock liner that surrounds your foot.
I know all of this sounds like a lot of techy-shoe stuff, but I really did feel all of the luxurious comfort and the plush fit. One of my biggest complaints about shoes I've worn in the past is that they don't have enough cushioning. When I go on long runs, I the ball of my foot starts to feel the pain first. I remember when I ran the Philadelphia Marathon. The ball of my foot started to feel like it was on fire around mile 12. I still had 14.2 miles to go!
Brooks designed the Glycerin 17s with problems like that in mind. They wanted to create a shoe that offered the cushiest ride possible, and they delivered!

Overall Thoughts
Brooks' motto is Run Happy, and these shoes certainly help me do that. They are honestly the comfiest pair of running shoes I've ever owned. The only problem? I'm going to have a hard time running in anything else!
