I’m so sad that Blend Retreat is over! I had such an amazing weekend with so many amazing bloggers. I wish it didn’t have to end!
I was planning on writing this post once I was back in the comfort of my NYC apartment, but the travel Gods had other plans for me. My flight got cancelled, and there are absolutely zero flights (direct or connecting) that can get me back to NYC before tomorrow (Monday) night – so I’m currently in a random Renaissance Hotel working off my iPhone’s hotspot because the wifi isn’t free. What hotel doesn’t have free wifi this day and age?
Anywho – I won’t bother you with the rant I bestowed upon Will and my Mom (sorry for that you two). Onto to more fun things – Blend!
There is so much to recap, so I’m going to do what I did last year and split the recap up into three parts – one part for each day. Let’s get into Day 1!
I left my apartment at 4:30am and got the airport with plenty of time. My flight to Denver was pretty easy, and I got in a few zzzs. Upon landing, I found SuperShuttle and headed out to my home for the weekend: the Chautaqua Cottages. Here’s our cute little cabin.
Soon enough, Jayne arrived (Jayne and I roomed together last year so it was great to be reunited!) and we decided to make the mile and a half walk down to the famous Pearl St to meet up with our other beloved roomie from last year, Erika. We spotted chickens in someone’s front yard on our way down. You don’t see that in NYC.
We grabbed a quick bite and explored some interesting Boulder shops where I found these gems. No, I didn’t purchase anything…
Then it was time to get back to Chautaqua to get ready for the first Blend event.
First, we met in the general assembly hall to make our own trail mix courtesy of General Mills. I made a blend with Rice Chex, cocoa powder, goji berries, pumpkin seeds, and flax seeds – SO GOOD!
Then, we were off for a trail run! I am not used to the elevation, so I opted to walk instead of run. It was so much fun catching up with some of the amazing bloggers I met last year, like Mollie, Laura and Julie, and finally getting to meet Amanda in person!
After the run, Jayne, Erika and I went back to our cottage to dive into our swag bags!
Mega massive HUGE thanks to all of the incredible sponsors! I can’t wait to try out all of these goodies. Special shout out to Quest, the main sponsor of Blend. You all know I’m already a huge Quest fan – so I was beyond pumped that they were here helping make Blend such a success!
After a quick inventory of all the swag, it was time to shower and get prettied up for cocktail hour, which was sponsored by Sizzlefish, WANU, and 34 Degrees.
I got a fun little cocktail and chatted with Kate and the amazing gals behind 50 States In a Year, Katie and Sam before diving into a delicious dinner and Arctic Zero dessert (their new chunky pints are to die for).
I’d been up since 2am Boulder time, so it was early to bed for me – but I went to sleep happy and pumped for more Blend fun! Stay tuned for Day 2!
