These are scars and are in the form of permanent form on the skin which is really a cause of concern for anybody.

What are back acne scars?

Back skin has a high concentration of sebaceous glands which clog the hair follicles with the dry skin cells and the oils. This results in black heads, white heads, lesions, cyst etc on the back skin frequently. Increased hormonal activity, bacteria trapped in the skin, genetics, and certain cosmetics or medication can trigger of the condition.

What are the types of back acne scars?

Back acne scars are caused by the body’s inflammatory reaction to lesions. There are two types of body and back acne scars, those caused by a loss of tissue, such as ice-pick scars, and those caused by increased tissue formation, such as keloid scars. While early treatment is the best treatment, there are many cosmetic dermatology options as well for getting rid of back acne scars. Here are some options for acne scar removal.

What are various Home removal methods for the back acne scars?

Dermabrasion

This uses a high-speed wire brush or diamond fraises to remove dead skin cells and allow new skin to grow. This as an ablative surgery procedure removes the epidermis and dermis in a controlled fashion. This is treated as one of the best known and most effective body acne scars treatment available.

Laser Skin Resurfacing

A superficial laser skin resurfacing removes dead and damaged skin cells with deep, controlled penetration. This allows for new skin development and smoother clearer skin.

Acne Chemical Peels

A chemical peel removes the top layer of the skin leaving the bottom layer of skin exposed, this layer being the new scar free layer. Superficial, medium and deep peels are used to remove damaged skin cells from the top layer of the skin, and improve the texture and tone of your skin overall.

Punch Techniques

It involves the physical removal of the tissue containing the scar and replacement of the remaining tissue. In some cases the pitted scars are loosened and the scar tissue is allowed to naturally rise to the surface of the surrounding skin.

Collagen Injections

Injection of the collagen fillers underneath the scar tissue allows the scar to rise to skin’s surface and create a uniform look. This is a temporary procedure and the scars can always resurface in the long run.

Fat Transfer

In this case fat is taken from another part of the body and injected underneath the scar. This allows the deep scars to rise to surface level. However, the fat transfer treatment for clearing acne scars is effective when multiple treatments are done.

Body Microdermabrasion

Body micro derma brasion uses aluminum oxide crystals instead of a wire brush to remove surface skin and reveal the healthier skin underneath. This is however, not as effective as dermabrasion.

Back scratcher

Apply the soap using a back scratcher which has a washcloth attached to its end with a rubber band. You can lather up the washcloth, then apply it to the back acne with the lathered back scratcher. Rinse well after you have lathered the back area. Avoid scrubbing the skin. A simple lather and rinse will suffice.

Tea tree oil

Start by attaching the washcloth to the end of the back scratcher again, then soaking it with water. Place five to six drops of tea tree oil onto the wet cloth, then apply the oil to the back using the back scratcher. Use small, circular motions, and avoid rubbing it in. You can use tea tree oil on the skin up to three times per day.

Moisturizing Using Olive Oil

Pour 1 tbsp. of olive oil onto the washcloth, and apply the oil to the back after the tea tree oil has been absorbed by the skin. After a sufficient amount of oil is on the skin, let it sit there for 1 to 2 minutes to soak in. Use a dry washcloth to wipe away any excess oil that may remain on the skin.

Lemon Juice

Wash your back first with warm water then with the use of a cotton ball apply lemon juice on the acne scars on your back. Allow the lemon juice to stay on your skin for 10 minutes before rinsing it off. Since lemon juice can cause your skin sensitive to the sun, always use sunscreen or you must cover your back skin with a shirt if ever you have plan of going out under the sun after the treatment.

Sandalwood and Rose Water

Combine sandalwood powder and rose water to form a paste which you can apply on acne scars on your back. Leave the paste overnight on the scars. Upon waking up in the morning, rinse it off. This paste can dry out the skin which makes it ideal for back acne scars as it can be hide and the skin at the back is less sensitive.

Tomato Pulp

Cut the tomato into halves and rub half of the tomato on acne scars leaving it for 15 minutes before rinsing it off. Since tomato pulp is acidic, you cannot apply it on your face however, it can be used at the  back acne scars especially if you have oily skin.

Turmeric

Make a paste from turmeric powder combining it with cream. Apply the paste onto back acne scars to minimize their appearance.

Vitamin E Oil

Just apply a small amount of vitamin E topically at the acne scars at your back. Vitamin E oil also helps with the prevention of new acne scars from forming.
