100 Great Adventures on America’s Public Lands

Posted on the 19 July 2019 by Kungfujedi @Kungfujedi

America's public lands are some of the best outdoor playgrounds on the planet. They can be found in pretty much every state in the country, although some are obviously much better than others. Still, there are a lot of things to see and do in these amazing locations and to remind us of that, Men's Journal has complied a list of the best things to do in those state and national parks and forests. In fact, they've come up with 100 great adventures that we can do there, providing plenty of great ideas to keep even the most active adventurer busy for awhile.

With so many options to choose from, it's impossible for me to share (or spoil!) them all in a single, short blog post. But to give you an idea of some of the things that made the cut, the MJ editors recommend activities like held-skiing in the Chugach National Forest of Alaska for example. While you're in the neighborhood, you can also spot caribou in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge as well. Moving to the opposite end of the country, you can also paddle the Everglades, mountain bike the Colorado Trail, or go whitewater rafting in the Chatahoochee National Forest in Georgia.

These are just a few example of some of the great adventures that made the cut. There are obviously numerous others, with things to do in just about every corner of the U.S. That means, no matter where you live or may be visiting, there is a good chance that you'll have something nearby to lure you into the outdoors. And of course, this list is just the tip of the iceberg, as there are literally thousands of other things to do in America's public lands.

The list also happens to be just part of a broader effort by the Men's Journal staff to shine a spotlight on the importance of public lands and the current threats those places face. To that end, the magazine and website have launched a special section called Land Uncompromised that is designed to help keep readers up to date on the latest news from -- and about -- these outdoor spaces. For those of us interested in protecting those wild places, it could prove to be a valuable source of information.
