Wine Wednesday Troon Winery

By Fitnspicy @fitnspicy

Scott and I just got back from a long weekend in the Medford/Ashland Oregon area. It was a beautiful, jam packed, wine, food and hiking filed weekend. We headed out there for a friends wedding and ended up staying a few extra days. The entire wedding group did a wine tour bus and it was a blast! 30 of us on a bus heading to 3 different wineries.

All 3 were amazing but I figured I would start with the first one we visited. Troon. The wineries were in the Applegate area and all were very different. Since it’s such a mild climate they can grow just about any grape. From sauvignon blan to cab to shiraz. And every winery had a few really unique styles.

Troon had great reds and a surprisingly good boxed wine. Seriously! Since it is such an active area with boating, rafting, camping and hiking they locals wanted a wine that was easy to transport. They got it! We contemplated buying a box but knew we wouldn’t be around enough to finish it all. And I really didn’t want to waste it. We did get a glass of the shiraz to share while we were on property and it was delicious.

We got a chance to take some pictures, visit with the couple and meet all the other wedding guests (we knew a few friends but met so many new people). It was a great kick off to our wine bus tour. And if you are ever in the area consider The Wine Hopper bus. All of our tasting fees were included, we had snacks, water and lunch. It was a fantastic deal!
