Wine Wednesday Chilean Sauvignon Blanc

By Fitnspicy @fitnspicy

While I am enjoying every second of these beautiful warm fall days, I know they are fleeting. It was 80+ degrees on Monday and I figured it would be a perfect day to enjoy that (possibly last) bottle of white of the season.

Scott was working so it was just me and the dogs. Between their constant in and out, barking at every single car, bird, leaf, neighbor kid, I attempted to soak up every second of sun on our deck. In my mind it was this ideal scenario but the dogs were going nuts, the darn box elder bugs were everywhere but I was determined to enjoy this evening. I pulled a Chilean Sauvignon Blanc from the fridge that I was sent to try and grabbed my tablet, put on a little Spotify and tried my hardest to relax.

I was almost successful and I will call that a win. Being the crazy type A that I am it is really hard for me to unwind. I am working on relaxing. Really working on it.

I had the last glass of the bottle of Novas, I had it open on Sunday while cooking and didn’t finish the bottle. Shocking! This was a beautiful light yellow with notes of lime, grapefruit, herbs and just a touch of pepper. An organic wine that is terrific with seafood, chicken and salads.

Wanting more than 3/4 of a glass I also opened the EQ Coastal Sauvignon Blanc, this was a completely different style. It had much more distinct notes of tropical fruit, minerals and a very nice acidity. The EQ was perfect with some smoked salmon, crackers and cheese. And at around $20 a bottle it was a great bargain. I had a hard time just having one more glass… but I knew my 5am alarm would come quickly and if I have more than 2 glasses of wine I am starting to feeling it the next morning. So I reluctantly stopped at 2 but will be finishing it up tonight with a Thai Shrimp Salad. Sad that these will probably be the last bottles of white for awhile.
