Whole 30 {Round Two} Day Seven & a Road Trip

By Heathernichole
Today was interesting and challenging. The will power, that I sometimes forget I have, came out and showed itself several times today. I slept until 9am. I don't know if it was the time change or the Whole 30 but I was definitely tired this morning. I ate breakfast and did a little food prepping. My mother-in-law let me borrow her cooler for my trip so I was able to bring hard boiled eggs, carrots, canned coconut milk, and La Croix water. I also brought coconut oil, ghee, almond butter and mandarin oranges.

I hit the road around 1 and I wasn't hungry so I just pulled out an RX Bar and a banana for easy access when hunger did strike.

After about an hour of being on the road I stopped at Target. I wanted to stop before I hit LA and before I hit farm land. I wanted to stop where I was still familiar with the area. My job is generously giving me a daily food allowance for the duration of my trip so I put mine towards snacks and drinks that I will consume over the next three days. I also grabbed an iced coffee from Starbucks and added canned coconut milk in the car before I began driving again. I pretty much spilled it everywhere. Hopefully we will see more convenient canned coconut milk containers soon for moments like these.

I got hungry around 5 and I still had another hour and a half left on my drive so I reached into my handy dandy cooler for a hard boiled egg. That held me over for a little while longer.

I passed a huge dairy farm and the Kraft headquarters. I may or may not have yelled at them each out as I drove by. Dairy is evil! The breakouts on my face, my allergies and my asthma have proven that several times. A huge non-scale victory was the fact that I did not yawn once my entire drive. That's huge! I was on the road for more than five hours {thanks to LA traffic} and I felt great the whole way. I did have a coffee, yes, but that never made a difference before. I know for a fact that this was thanks to my new eating plan.

I checked into my hotel at 6:30 and I went out to explore the town a little bit. I wanted to see where I'll be going tomorrow for training. You know, because I'm a planner and I love to know what I'm doing and where I'm going at all times. I passed a Starbucks! And I saw another one across the street from where I'll be in class. So that's amazing news. I also grabbed some dinner. I was pretty hungry by that point. I went to Wendy's and ordered a plain grilled chicken sandwich {I threw away the bread} and a plain baked potato {I added ghee when I got back to the hotel room}. This was pretty darn good for being a fast food meal in a hotel room two hundred and fifty miles from home.

And my "dessert" was, once again, Kombucha. This one was absolutely delicious. I love chia seeds! I drank a few sips and then got in a workout.

The next time I try to come up with excuses for eating healthy and getting in a workout, I will remember this day.

I guess the hotel received the memo that Coconut Lime Verbena from Bath & Body Works is my favorite scent. I will definitely be calling the front desk and requesting more.
