Something different I did this week:
Get ready for this because it’s once-in-a-blue-moon-ish. I took out some paints, brushes and did painting with the little one. Out on the verandah, of course, no less. I’m a little bit of a clean freak and I hate the thought (no, actually, the inevitability) of paint over my carpet, floors or furniture. If you feel sorry for my kids, well, I am starting to as well. That is why I’m making the effort. Hopefully, I’ll keep up with it and do it more often.
Looking forward to:

Shoal Bay! A couple of our friends invited us along for a weekend with their toddler. Can’t wait to have a little getaway while the kids play.
Something I discovered this week:
Spotify! Yes, a little late perhaps. Or maybe not. I’ve had Spotify for months but besides a little casual swipe here and there, I never actually got hooked. Well, this week I did a little exploration and that was it – I am well and truly hooked now. I love music so much; it’s one of those things that can truly make a dull, dreary day good for me. I need music and Spotify helps me to discover so much beyond the stuff I usually listen to. All the intuitive playlists are great – I choose according to mood or what I’m doing. Without doubt, a fair few kids playlists have been added to my account too. Yes, the tunes of Barney Sing-Along, Playschool and the like. #lifeofamum. There’s really… everything in there. You’ve done well Spotify – I am now a paying customer!
A movie I watched this week:
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. There are a lot of mixed reviews for this one. To be honest, I got bored within the first few minutes. I was saying to my husband: “Lucky I never paid to watch at the cinema. I would have walked out.”I thought it was just going to be the character’s imaginations all through which seemed a little silly. Plus the pace was a little too slow for my taste. Lucky I stuck it out (I had to at least see Sean Penn, right?) and I had to repent of my premature judgements. I have fallen in love with it. Breath taking scenery, a down to earth, genuine character with struggles that we can relate to, a character I came to like and sympathize with – I found myself at the edge of my seat (couch) cheering him on, willing him to conquer every single obstacle in his way. I love Ben Stiller’s portrayal of Walter – he balanced down-on-his-luck with a lot of soul that his character never turned mopey or pathetic despite all the set backs. The movie’s sincere, unpretentious, uplifting plot peppered with little moments of humor really struck a chord with me. I loved it. Absolutely. It’s making me want to travel to the more exotic places of the world. I know people who just absolutely loved it or hated it for their own reasons but if you haven’t watched it, give it a go!
Quote of the week:
To see the world, things dangerous to come to, to see behind walls, draw closer, to find each other, and to feel. That is the purpose of life.”
― James Thurber
Have an amazing weekend everyone! x
