Week One of Back on My Weight Loss Plan – 4 Pounds Down!

By Slimshoppin @slimshoppin

So March 1st, I made a new goal. For the next 3 months I will make small changes, avoid eating crap at work, move more. So after 1 week, today’s weigh in – I lost exactly 4 pounds. And I ate great too!

This week I had quiche for dinner one night, lasagna, stir fry. I even still had pizza last night (just not as much!) I made pancakes for breakfast one morning, a vegetable/potato hash, oatmeal.

I used smaller plates and bowls. After eating half of a meal, I decided whether I was full and if I wanted to eat more.

Most times I bring my lunch to work. My weakness if I don’t? Chicken tenders and fries from a restaurant around the corner from my office. (My sister Biz is familiar with this story!) I’m friends with the manager, so last week I got a salad from the salad bar. I told him in the next 3 months if I come in and ask for the chicken tenders, don’t let me get it! So yesterday in Chicago it was 46 degrees at lunch, so I ended up walking during my whole lunch. I didn’t bring a lunch, so I stopped by Erik’s deli and my friend was working again. I stepped up to the counter and said “I’d like the chicken fingers and french fries”…. He looked at me puzzled and said “I thought you told me not to sell that to you?” And I said ‘You passed the test!” LOL – so I did get the salad bar. I keep my own dressing at work, so I know the calories for that. #winning!

I walked more instead of taking the bus to work, I did a small workout before work (like 20 minutes).

I watched you tube videos of weight loss success stories to keep me motivated.

I have 2 co-workers at work also trying to lose weight, so we are keeping each other accountable.

I didn’t eat any donuts, muffins, bagels, packzi at work – definitely a big high five for avoiding those!

When I order supplies at work, it gives the option of a gift – meaning candy – and I usually pick the giant bag of m&m’s and keep that in my desk all week. This week – instead of that I chose GUM!!! No calories baby!

I’ve been motivated by this girl Krista on Facebook. She lost a ton of weight last year and even though she has struggles, she keeps going! Check out and like her page HERE

And of course another inspiration is Courtney from Biggest loser. We are “friends” on Facebook. She has overcome severe obesity – she was over 400 pounds. She lost 100 even before trying out for Biggest Loser. She says she faces a battle – every.single.day – yet she works out – tries to eat the best she can and she’s still chasing her goals! Like her page here, she’s always sharing great tips!

She shared a throw back Thursday photo this past week to show how far she’s come.

courtney!

And you have to check out this lady! She’s began her journey at 457 pounds and has lost 250 pounds! Check out and like her facebook page here.

Living instead of existing

How great does she look?!

So every Saturday will be my weigh in. I have a piece of paper on the wall with my current weight and the date, so that by the time I get to my goal, all my weeks will add up. I’m glad I’m not alone – many people are working towards their goals every day.

I picked June 1st because my oldest son will be graduating high school that day and I want to wear a cute dress for it!

:)

SO – I HARDLY EVER SHOW PICTURES OF ME ON HERE – BUT THAT’S GOING TO CHANGE – HERE WE GO – HERE IS MY FIRST PHOTO FROM LAST WEEK!! I’ll update this every Saturday.

OK, off to get my work out clothes on. It’s 30 degrees out (ick!). Every Saturday my husband and I have been walking 4-5 miles.

Do you need motivation to start? Check out my weight loss success stories I’ve posted over the years. These were regular people who took small steps and had great results!
