Do you think that increased traffic means increased conversions?
If your answer is yes to this question, then you must know the truth.
The fact is—increased traffic may only marginally improve conversion rates, especially if the traffic is from the wrong audience.
Increased traffic from the appropriate audience for your product or service is the key factor in increasing conversions rates and revenue.
Driving traffic to your website is the foremost factor in internet marketing.
The issue to be dealt with, however, is driving the right traffic to your website. The right traffic is defined broadly as those inclined by demographics, profession, gender or similar criteria, to buy your product or service.
The right traffic is akin to the qualified sales leads of the non-virtual world.
It is the difference between cold calling and following up on a qualified sales lead; a lead that has a predisposition to buy your product or service.
You might be asking, “Okay Dipti. How do I get the right audience to my website?”
Key Factors to Attract the Right Traffic to Your Website
You must know two things before you can formulate a strategy that will target the right audience for your website. The most significant first step is rather obvious, but often overlooked.
1.) You need to know who your customers are.
2.) You must determine what appeals to those customers and finally, you must provide it.
Do you want traffic? Of course you want traffic!
But what you really need to generate revenue are conversions.
Conversions will always trump raw traffic numbers.
I have listed five fantastic insights to increase website conversion rates:
1.) Always make your customers happy.
If you are more concerned with making yourself happy, your ego trip will quickly put you out of business.
There is much truth in the old saw, “The customer is always right.”
2.) Never lose sight of your goals.
Stay the course! While it is acceptable to alter the tactics you are using to achieve your goals, the goals should be a constant.
3.) Monitor your page bounces.
Low bounce rates tell you that visitors like the content. Conversely, high bounce rates demonstrate the fact that they don’t like the content. Learn what your visitors appreciate by paying close attention to these statistics.
4.) Optimize what is working.
Armed with these insights on customer likes and dislikes, you can proceed to optimize these pages. Track your affiliate links to determine which were clicked to generate sales. Improving those pages and directing more traffic their way should increase your conversion rate.
5.) Track the improvements you make.
Optimizing pages is fine, but if you don’t track changes and later learn that the results are not are not as expected, it will be difficult to undo the damage. Split testing is a great way to determine the true value of any changes you have made.
Want to Increase Conversions? Avoid These Four Common Errors
1.) Always use proper tags and keywords.
Keywords and tags are the stair steps to higher page rankings. Don’t use improper keywords and tags and do not use keywords in excess.
2.) Never Plagiarize.
Aside from being unethical, plagiarism is easily detected by be search engine algorithms.
3.) Don’t use unrelated keywords.
Attempting to raise the profile of your site through the use of popular keywords is highly counterproductive and may even result in the banning of your website. Moreover, it is not going to bring you the right audience.
4.) Don’t hide keywords.
Let’s face it, if you are feeling compelled to hide keywords; they probably have no business there in the first place. It’s just dumb.
My Final Thoughts...
The amount of time, energy and financial resources spent must ultimately translate into the sale of your product or service.
This is your return on investment.
Finding sources that transmit the right traffic to your website is of paramount importance to the success of your business.
Never lose sight of the fact that you have attracted the right customers because you have the right content.
Stick with your niche!
Keep your website relevant to the niche you have carved out so that when a potential customer arrives at your site, the customer sees what the customer expected.
