Some people claim that it is a blessing to be allowed to work from home, some people believe it to be a curse.
There are positives and negatives that contribute to almost every decision that we make or opportunity that is given to us.
Finding a balance between the good and the bad will take some perseverance.
However there are a number of things that you can do that makes your life working from home a breeze. Today's post will cover three that will help you along the way.
1.) Balance your work time and your family time.
Many women choose to work from home to spend more time with their family. Even though this is a wonderful idea, if you don't successfully have a balance between personal and business time, you may get less done or even become stressed out.
It's best to find a healthy balance between spending time with the family and getting down to business.
Create a calendar to maintain adequate time for your work and your family.
When its time to work, it is advisable to find a quiet and private area within your home. Let your family know that when you are working to respect your rule of not being disturbed.
Always treat your work space with total respect because it's like you are in a "traditional" office. More details in tip number three.
2.) Have an awesome and relaxing workstation.
One of the biggest problems that I faced when I first started working from home was that I did not have an appropriate workstation.
I would sit on the sofa with my laptop on my knees. I used to think that the television noise in the background to be a luxury, not a distraction.
Unfortunately, I was unaware of the potential health risks that I could be facing had I not taken action.
My job role involves spending vast amounts of time typing away on my laptop or computer.
Since I didn't have a suitable set up for my workstation, I began to develop problems in my wrists and back.
My doctor told me that I could be developing a repetitive strain injury in my wrists. Also, my back was aching and I was putting extreme amounts of strain in my back muscles.
I couldn't take it anymore, so I immediately created an acceptable work station. Now, I conduct all my work from this.
I have a chair which keeps me upright (its not an ergonomic chair, just a regular office chair with a stiff back rest) and ergonomic rests for my keyboard and mouse these alleviate the strain on my writs and my discomfort has all but gone.

A workstation will also encourage a working mentality which should reduce the chances of any pesky distractions.
3.) Enjoy what you do and do what you love!
This is a large factor especially when working from home.
If you hate your job the last thing you are going to want to do is spend your time at home slaving over something you dislike.
You will easily become distracted.
Any work that you finish will create stress and low quality work.
Enjoying what you do will not only make for a relaxing experience but should also keep you in the good books of your work colleagues.
