Using Grapeseed Oil as a Moisturizer or Heat Protectant for Natural Hair
Moisturizes Protects
Strengthens Heat Resistant
Grapeseed Oil is a staple for me. I keep a bottle on hand because it works well in my conditioners and hot oil treatments. It makes my hair soft, and although I haven't gotten around to using it as a heat protectant for heat styling, I will be sure to try it once I decide to do just that.
Grapeseed oil is great for moisturizing the hair and also as a heat protectant because it can withstand heat up to 425 degrees F. It's full of antioxidants that are good for both your skin and hair and has a shelf life of approximately one year so, it's certainly an investment for what it can do. It's the perfect oil to use as a hot oil treatment because of its thermal and moisturizing properties and also as a deep conditioner when sitting under a hair dryer.
Grapeseed oil can be purchased at your local grocery store, usually in the same aisle as the other vegetable oils for less than $9. It's a light oil that won't weigh your hair down and it's great for treating dry hair, scalp, and dandruff issues. You can add Grapeseed oil to your conditioner, deep conditioner, hot oil treatment, moisturizing oils/butters, and of course when blow drying, heat styling or straightening the hair.
Grapeseed oil will seal moisture into the hair and will also work well for your skin because of its powerful antioxidants that are good at protecting your skin and hair from free radicals. It is also good for those with sensitive skin because of its non-allergenic properties.
