You might have noticed that I have greatly reduced the number of posts where I would specifically review a single product. This was because I felt like those posts were not as well liked as posts that centered around a topic while featuring different products.
However, I think there’s still a place for more in-depth reviews on specific products so I’d like to attempt to strike a balance between both types. Plus, how about if I jazz up these review posts just a little with a cool, funky (at least to me!) grading feature? I’m so excited to preview and try out this review system where I grade products based on a few criteria which hopefully will give you a better idea of whether it will suit you. Of course, this grading system is not new to beauty bloggers but I think it’s a great way to consolidate a review. Plus, my hands are just so itchy to try using this awesome feature! #techgeek
Again, as with any review you read, it’s based on the writer’s personal experience. What may work for me, might not work for someone else and what may not work for me, might work for someone else.
So to start us off, I’m reviewing the Trilogy Rosapene Night Cream.
Trilogy is a brand that I have long heard of but haven’t had the chance to try until recently. This award-winning brand is “dedicated to providing ethically sourced and organic skincare products” and is also New Zealand’s first skincare company to achieve the NATRUE Natural Cosmetics Certification. NATRUE is, by the way, an international non-profit association dedicated to the sole purpose of “promoting and protecting natural beauty and skin care products”. With so many products claiming to be ‘organic’ and ‘natural’ these days, it’s definitely a plus point that Trilogy has been certified by this organization.
What’s In It?
This Rosapene Night Cream is antioxidant-rich and also contains goji (for regeneration) and manuka honey (for hydration and repair) with the aim of combating visible signs of aging as well as aiding a “brighter, revitalised complexion”. Other highly regarded ingredients include certified organic rosehip oil (for nourishment, repair & hydration), acai seed oil (for skin regeneration & encouraging new collagen production), tomato seed oil (prevent oxidative damage & signs of premature ageing), cranberry seed oil (nourishment, hydration & strengthening of the skin) and oat extract (to soothe & soften the skin).
As you will notice, these are what they call Superfoods which are typically high in antioxidants.
My thoughts
The beautiful rose scent of their Rosapene oil blend really appeals to me. Describing scents isn’t exactly my forte but it reminds me of stepping into a relaxing spa and having beautiful aromatic blends saturate my senses. My first observation was also that it came in a jar, which many people dislike usually due to hygiene reasons, but luckily, this one comes with a spatula so it really isn’t too bad.
A little goes a long way as it spreads on so smoothly, thanks to its light-medium texture. I really enjoy the formula; it is nourishing enough yet lightweight and not heavy at all (something I’m very fussy about) and does not make my skin break out. It does feel just a little greasy at first but it doesn’t last long. However, if you have oily skin, you might want to look into it further. For my skin, it has done a good lot of hydration and has even helped to soothe a little redness around my nose that I sometimes get after washing my face. This is a very calming cream that really is perfect as a night cream. Overall, I do see an improvement in my complexion with regards to hydration and redness and I’m very excited to have discovered this product this year. Not forgetting, best of all, it is packed full of certified natural and organic ingredients.
