Travel Thursday August Schell Brewery

By Fitnspicy @fitnspicy

While New Ulm Minnesota is not exactly an exotic locale where a passport is needed, it is the home of the August Schell Brewery. Schell’s is the 2nd oldest family owned brewery in the U.S. They have survived wars, prohibition and changing tastes.

Schell’s is probably as popular as it has ever been. There is something to be said about a company that has kept it’s family values, remained privately held and has made very little changes to the recipe or the brewing process. Yes, the brewery is more modern now but it is still in the same location that it always has been!

Jess, Dave, Laurie, Scott and I headed down on a late fall drive to New Ulm. The trees were no longer at their peak but it was still very pretty. We stopped at Crofut Winery (separate post coming on this), Schells and Morgan Creek.

Time spent in the gift shop where a few stylin’ hats were purchased, a tour, a walk around the grounds and of course some beer tasting.
