I’m a BIG fan of comfort food – and now that I’m back on Weight Watchers- it doesn’t mean that I have to give that up. I just finished my 5th week and I’m down 13.5 pounds – which I am SUPER excited about. And I haven’t really had to give up a lot either. The biggest thing of course is watching portion sizes. I did get a food scale so I can definitely see what the right portion is and I’m writing every single thing I put in my mouth on my weight watchers app. I get 30 Smart Points a day and 35 Smart Points per week. Each food item has a points value and as long as you stay within that – you will be successful!
I’ve made the dish I’m about to share many times. Although not in a lower calorie version and I think mine tastes just as good! It’s from Kevin and Amanda’s site (they make great food!). That’s one of the great things about Weight Watchers – you can still have things – you just have to be a little crafty as to how to make it healthier – use less butter or margarine (or can you leave it out altogether?) Can I lessen the amount of a high point ingredient – maybe make my serving less?
For the original version – they used 1 pound of Italian sausage – I used 2 links of Kirkwood Brand Chicken Sausage. By switching that alone – saved 12 Smart Points for the whole recipe!
