For my first ever job when I was 16 I was as a cashier at my local TK Maxx. Back then TK Maxx was somewhere my Gran would shop. Nowadays of course any thrifty girl worth her salt knows that there are bargains galore at TK Maxx if you’re up for a bit of a rummage.
I’m always drawn towards the make-up department in TK Maxx, however since I made the decision to go cruelty-free I worried that I wouldn’t find any cruelty-free bargains in such a pot luck shop. Oh how wrong I was!
First up is the Jemma Kidd Eye Wardrobe Colour Quartet in Natural. This palette contains two highlight shades and two mid/defining shades in wearable, everyday nudes. Unfortunately the camera really doesn’t pick up how lovely these shades are (damn you dull winter ‘daylight’)!
TK Maxx also had this set in green, blue and metallic shades at the time I was there. I received a Jemma Kidd eye pencil as a gift with a magazine recently and really liked it. I also recently reviewed Jemma’s wonderful make-up book so I was really pleased to find Jemma Kidd make-up at a great price so that I could try out more from her brand.
Next up is another Jemma Kidd product. This time it’s her On Location Palette which is currently available from ASOS for £16.00 but I picked it up in TK Maxx for £4.99!
The idea behind this palette is that it’s a compact all-in-one for when you’re out and about and don’t want to take a suitcase of make-up with you! This palette contains four neutral shimmer eyeshadows, a concealer, a beautiful creme blush and a pink toned lip gloss. The colours would looked great on everyone and this palette is the perfect size for popping in your handbag.
Next is the Nude on Nude palette from NYX. Originally priced at £28 and now available for £24 on the NYX website, I got this for £14.99 in TK Maxx.
This palette has 20 cream, brown, gray and black toned eyeshadows and 10 lip colours which include nudes, purples, pinks and reds. There’s also a nice large mirror and two applicators making this pallette completely portable. I’m looking forward to seeing what looks I can create with this!
Moving on to my biggest beauty bargain. It’s 3 i-Kiss lip pencils from New CID Cosmetics. These are available on the New CID Cosmetics website for £13.00 each, and I bought these 3 for £9.99 all in! They also double up as matt lipsticks which makes them even more of a bargain! I love the colours and how chunky these pencils are.
TK Maxx had loads of these little pouches of products. They are small loose items which TK Maxx grouped together and sold as a set. There were products from Bourjois and Calvin Klein as well as New CID at the time I was in the store.
Despite the lip pencils being the biggest bargain, my favorite item I bought is this 144pc eyeshadow palette from e.l.f. I picked up the Neutral palette but there was also a Brights palette available at the time I was in store (yes that’s MORE nude eyeshadows for me)!
I haven’t been able to find the palette anywhere in the UK but it is available in Target’s US site for $15. Again, the camera doesn’t pick up the colours very well here but the range from the brightest white to the deepest black, and range from mattes to shimmers.
I’ll do full reviews of all these products, with swatches, once I’ve had a chance to properly road test them.
Has anyone picked up any beauty bargains from TK Maxx recently? Or TJ Maxx as it’s known in the US?
Lisa x
