Thursday Thoughts: A Typical Day

By Fitnspicy @fitnspicy

You would have to dig back in the archives to 2009 to find a typical day post. I figured it was time to do one! This is Tuesday the 11th and for all purposes it’s a very typical day.

5:00 AM

Alarm goes off, I seriously consider pulling the covers over my head and going back to sleep. But the dogs are up, ready to go outside and I realize it is still snowing/sleeting and if I leave and go to yoga sculpt my drive will be much more pleasant.

5:20 AM

I am dressed, car is loaded and get ready to head to yoga. Wrong. I get stuck in our driveway because of sheer ice. We have a very long driveway and Scott had cleared it once but the combination of ice and snow made it glare ice. I wake up Scott and have him help me get my car up the driveway.

5:35 AM

Finally on the way to yoga. Worried I will be late (and I HATE being late). Make it by 5:50 with only a few minor slowdowns on the way in.

5:55 AM

I am on my mat, already starting to sweat and attempting to get my darn heart rate monitor to connect to the Polar Loop. It won’t no matter what I do.

6:00-7:00 AM

Work my booty off. There is not a dry spot to be found on me.

7:00-7:30 AM

Get ready at yoga. I am still sweating, it takes me so long to cool down after sculpt. Wonder how everyone else cools off so quickly. Have an  philosophical conversation with the woman getting ready next to me about those who walk around naked vs. those who just quickly change vs. those who change in the bathroom stall. Fascinating cultural study there! After packing up all my stuff  I realize that I forgot regular shoes and am stuck wearing my  winter boots all day.

7:40 AM

Arrive at work. Get my computer started and realize that I forgot most of my lunch in the fridge. Scrounge to find some food to eat today, thank goodness for snack drawers! Start with my morning trio. Protein shake, tea (today it’s Good Earth Sweet and Spicy) and water. My goal is too drink 3 of my water bottles every day while at work. That usually happens. Go me!

7:45 AM- 12 PM

Work. Editing a new brochure, work on all the suggested changes to a new web tool (that alone takes about 3 hours) and get my inbox down to a manageable level. Mid morning I grab a snack of Greek yogurt, 1/4 cup granola and another mug of tea. More water as well.

12:10 PM

Lunch time. I had some leftover white chicken chili in the fridge still, make a snack plate of pea pods, cheese cubes, an apple and nut butter. Work while I am eating, check various social media accounts and email.

1-3:20 PM

More work. I had a handful of nuts mid afternoon, a few crackers and baby carrots that I forgot to take a picture of. Oops. Pack up to head to a quick Dr. appointment. Am thankful that the roads are mostly clear and it’s just a few flurries now.

3:40 PM

Get blood drawn at the Dr. Lucky me. I am hoping this is the last one for a while.

4:10 PM

Home. I am greeted by 2 furry faces that are so excited to see me. I give them their pets and snuggles. We talk about our days and I grab them dinner. Scott is getting all bundled up to go out and hunt as I am walking in. No luck tonight, he didn’t even see a deer.

5-9 PM

Eat dinner (leftover chicken noddle soup), clean up, get clothes out for tomorrow, laundry, cleaning, quick phone call with my Mom, a little blog work, clean up email (work and personal), paint my nails, hangout with Scott while the Voice is on in the background and I finally settle in around 8 to read a few cookbooks, drink a bug mug of tea and curl up on the couch.

9-11 PM

Head to bed,  I make my to do list for tomorrow (I do this right before bed because it helps me clear my mind, I make a list in an app) watch Chicago Fire and hear Scott and the dogs snoring within minutes. I toss and turn until about 11.

11 PM

Finally fall asleep. Wake up at least every hour and have a hard time getting back to sleep. Sigh. Darn insomnia! Realize that I am worried about insignificant things and try to clear my mind.
