SS12 Raffia Bags

The recent gorgeous sunny weather in Scotland with practically tropical temperatures (well, around 15 degrees!) has inspired me to add to my summer must have list. First on the list was a pair of espadrilles and I’ve written a post about some of my faves here. Today I’m looking at raffia bags. Although these are having a moment in fashion right now I think that raffia bags are another example of an item which will continue to win you big style points for years to come.
So, here’s the raffia bags that have made it onto my lust list for SS12!

Now the eagle eyed among you may have noticed that the last image is infact a pair of shoes and not a handbag! They are still raffia though and super cute so they still count!
The only nice raffia bag I could find on the high street is the one from River Island. Do you think the high street has missed a trick here? I know there are bigger trends out there at the moment but I was loving the raffia on the catwalk and was looking forward to some high street interpretations.
