Sinus Strikes Back

By Fitnspicy @fitnspicy

Strange title I know, but I am in the midst of yet another sinus problem. I haven’t written much about it but it’s been happening for 6+ months. It started with {what I thought} a simple sinus infection last fall. No big deal. These happen all the time. Soon that simple sinus infection was a pesky one that just wouldn’t go away. I went to an ENT in December had a minor procedure that was supposed to fix it. It didn’t.

All winter I kept dealing with horrendous pain and sinus infections. I had a few more procedures and a more serious one in February to remove a precancerous tumor. Again, this was supposed to take care of the problem. So here we are nearing the beginning of June and I am still dealing with this!

What I’ve Done:

  • 3 procedures
  • 4+ rounds of antibiotics
  • 3 rounds of steroids
  • Countless doctor appointments
  • 3 CT type scans

So what’s wrong? They aren’t 100% sure. And that is incredibly frustrating! My problem seems to be in the maxillary sinus. That area right beneath my eyes. I also seem to have a very inflamed nostril. Oh joy.

What do I do now?

  • Another round of antibiotics (I hate this!)
  • Steriods
  • Nasal spray
  • Neti-pot 3 times per week
  • Diligent with allergy medication
  • Follow-up again with the ENT

As someone who is pretty healthy this whole experience has been incredibly frustrating. They can’t figure out what the heck is wrong with my sinus. Why I am experiencing pain, bloody noses, infections and just overall feeling horrible. It’s really not fun! So in the meantime I will continue to do what I can to fix this and live my life. But please send some positive thoughts my way, my sinuses need them.
