Secret Recipe Club Bloody Maria’s

By Fitnspicy @fitnspicy

It was the perfect weather weekend in MN. Upper 70’s and sunny! You can’t beat that. It was also perfect weather for getting outside and enjoying a cocktail. Saturday we put our garden in, it’s about 3x the size of last years and in a much sunnier location. Fingers crossed for fresh herbs, vegetables and that our tomatoes actually come in before October.

With planting those tomatoes and golfing this morning I was really in the mood for a bloody mary, but after reading Leslie’s blog: La Cocina de Leslie and seeing her recipe for Bloody Maria’s I was sold. Sub vodka for tequilla and you are ready to enjoy a great cocktail. This was the perfect pick for the Secret Recipe Club this month. Leslie lives in Mexico and has some amazing looking dishes, and since Scott is such a fan of spicy food I know I will be making a few more dishes. The coffee cake and bean and chorizo tostatdas look delicious.

The key to the Bloody Maria is lots of lime. Now, I love lime in my Bloody Mary and it is even better in the Maria version. So tasty!

I used a good silver tequilla and a thicker tomato juice, but I like my bloodies really thick and spicy. Want to make a few of these, just repeat in each glass. Or could make a big pitcher of them!
