Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate

The weather is (slowly) cooling down, and the chill means it’s time for some warm drinks to cozy up with. I absolutely love the salted caramel hot chocolate from Starbucks. Since I don’t want to make a trip out to the cafe every time I crave it, I decided to make some at home! The girls over at A Beautiful Mess has a pretty solid recipe, so you ought to try it. I just  melted milk, cream and semi-sweet chocolate chips over the stove (made to taste), and topped it with whipped cream, Smucker’s caramel sauce, and a sprinkle of sea salt. The result was amazing.

Note: If you are pressed for time, you can always use a cocoa mix to make hot cocoa. But genuine hot chocolate requires melting actual chocolate bits with milk and cream. Just in case you ever wondered about the difference.
