Summary:
I haven’t actually tried a mascara by Rimmel since the Sexy Curves mascara I had back in 2008. I liked it then – so much so it quickly became my favorite – but there have always been so many other mascaras to try from other brands that looked more appealing on the make up counters.
However there’s no denying that the bold yellow metallic tube of this Rimmel Lash Accelerator Endless mascara doesn’t stand out more than just a little bit! Coming in at £7.99 it’s not supremely expensive either, helping to make it that bit more appealing against its fierce competition. It’s also a rather un-uniform shape, somewhat resembling an elongated diamond, housing a black lash lengthening mascara. It isn’t a waterproof mascara, but it does contain fibres which lengthen the lashes, plus also a grow lash complex. Apparently lashes will look 80% longer with this mascara, and 117% longer after 30 days of use.
The wand has small yellow spikes which are slightly flexible, but coats eyelashes reasonably well with just one layer. However this mascara definitely seems to lengthen eyelashes instead of volumising them which I think is a pity. I’ve found this mascara doesn’t apply particularly well either; I found it messy and quite clumpy. I don’t like how every lash seems to be a different length as I think it looks really untidy and like I haven’t applied my mascara properly… The mascara also doesn’t seem to make much of an impact either as it isn’t very bold.
Regardless, I kept it on and found that it didn’t flake over the course of the day. I did find that when rubbing around my eyes I found smears of mascara on my hands, almost as if the mascara hadn’t quite dried properly. When rubbing my eyes at the end of the day the mascara just smudged around my eyes and came off my eyelashes easily. I didn’t mind that too much, but I prefer mascara which is a more robust. I dread to think what it would look like after a stint in the rain!
Overall I probably wouldn’t buy this mascara again as I’d have preferred a much more volumised result. I did find that the mascara was quite difficult to apply neatly too. I’d also have liked a less messy and uneven finish, but as such this mascara is probably a good one to go for if you don’t mind a natural look. I don’t much care for the look of the tube either, but I acknowledge that ultimately that doesn’t really matter. I can’t say whether this mascara has long lasting lengthening effects as I have other mascaras which I prefer to wear on a daily basis.
