And the lip craze is neverending – especially since I’d won the bingo game prize of a $500 shopping voucher at YSL at the launch of their Couture Palettes last month heheh. I spent my “money” on a number of products – I know, skincare is more important, but besides the fact that I already have quite a number at home, I really wanted to make my dollar go the mile. I bought my close gal pals a Lip Stain each, and blew the rest by focusing on quantity. Heh. I’m building up my makeup army remember?
YSL Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick in shade 49 Tropical Pink
I say…
I used to be a little put off by bubblegum pink cos of Nikki Minaj, but I’ve gradually come to embrace my inner ghetto pop skank princess. Oh, and also because everyone in the world is now doing red, and it’s just boringggg. Since red is a classic look that never goes out of style, it also means that 5 years later, I’ll still be rocking the red lips.
- Ok, clearly, this is luxe. Look at the pretty gold packaging!
- Props for the angular tube – my lipstick won’t be doing a Limp Bizkit and be rollin’ rollin’ rollin’ off my dresser.
- The lipstick is creamy and moisture, and covers my chapped and flakey lips well. You can barely even see the fine lines of my lips.
- The gloss factor is also decent. See mah peekture.
- The colour payoff is good – what you see is what you get on the lips – a bright bubblegummy pink that brightens up my overall complexion.
- After a few hours of wear, it fades into a muted pink that’s somewhat of a tint.
- To be really honest, there’s nothing really terrible about this lipstick, especially since it only lasts about 3-4 hours on normal people who eat and drink (unlike models) hurhurhur. I kid, I kid. But you get my gist – for something that stays on me for such a short period of time, it’s pretty decent.
- Beauty tip: Wearing a bright pink can make you look younger. Reds can sometimes add a bit of age to your face cos it conjures up the image of sophistication, something that only comes with maturity.
Overall, I say this shade will be a good investment for your first pink lippie – it’s luxe, it’s moisturising, and it has good colour intensity. Even my girlfriend (who is usually mad about deep reds) ended up caving in to this colour instead. If you’re worried about it being too bubblegummy, try 3CE’s lipstick in a slightly more muted pink then. Smoochie poochies everybardy! xoxo
