Review: Vichy Mineral 89 Skin Fortifying Daily Booster

By Beautifulbuns

After my recent trips to Portugal and Taipei, my skin is certainly letting it all hang out – it’s going bonkers from the oh-so-dry air and pressurised inflight air. I’ve actually been slowing nursing it back to health with certain tried and trusted items (Hanyul cleanser, Belif Peat Serum, etc) as well as this new product from Vichy.

I say…

The Packaging: A pretty fuss-free glass bottle with a cap covering its pump dispenser. The base is wider than the top, which gives for more stability (yes, klutzes like me who are prone to knocking over stuff will appreciate this design aesthetic much).

The Scent: Nil – and why should there be? This product was formulated with just 11 ingredients.

The Texture: A lightweight gel that dissolves almost instantly with just a few seconds of gentle massaging. There is no nasty afterfeel (i.e. not greasy, not sticky, nothinggg), but the skin does feel more hydrated (possibly because of its mineral water content).

The Verdict: Now this is one of those products that doesn’t have an impressive outlook – there are no frills, no fancy packaging, no aromatic scents, no immediate gratification/obvious effects, so it’s easy to overlook this. However, it’s what’s inside that really matters, which are the ingredients that do the work. After just a week or so of use, my skin is noticeably hydrated, plumper/firmer, more radiant, and doesn’t look as tired or dry. It works to boost your skin’s health and also is said to increase the efficacy of products that you apply after. Definitely something worth trying out especially if your skin is in need of a perk-me-up, or have sensitive skin – it’s sort of a long-term investment for your skin.
