Sephora Exculsive: Tarte Carried Away Collector's Set

It's been such a long time since I've done a review that I'm completely out of it! Note to self: take pictures during the day and not at night (>.<)! I apologize ahead of time that these pictures aren't the best...I took them at night and I just couldn't get the flash to work on my side - sorry!!! Hopefully you guys can still get the gist of it (^__^).
Anyways, Christmas came a little early for me this year! My lovely sister gifted me this Tarte Carried Away Collector's Set a couple weeks ago and I LOVE it! This is part of the Tarte holiday collection and it is exclusive to Sephora, so I suggest grabbing it ASAP as it's selling out really quickly!
The set, which retails for $54.00, comes with a makeup bag, 8 mini lip glosses, 1 blush, 1 blush brush, a mini mascara, a mini finishing powder, and 24 FULL SIZE  eyeshadows!
Now, I haven't had a chance to really use the finishing powder and the mascara, so I'll have to review those two next time. But regardless, the glosses, blush, brush, makeup bag, and eye shadows make this collection set so worth it!
8 Maracuja Lip Glosses
[Review] Tarte Carried Away Collector's Set
One of the many things I truly appreciate with this set is that Tarte gave us a combination of finishes in both  the lip glosses and eye shadows. While three of the lip glosses have  shimmers in them (Mer, Ali, and Heath), the other eight have more of a cream finish to them (Jena, Nuria, Casey, Anna, Mel). Though I wouldn't say these lip glosses are super pigmented, they do have good color payoffs as seen on the swatches on the right. So, you can wear these on their own to add a little color and gloss to your lips.
All of these lip glosses do have a minty-ness to them, so I'm assuming that all of Tarte's maracuja lip glosses are the same. They feel really good on the lips - not too sticky, but sticky enough so it doesn't easily move around.
As far as their lasting power...it just depends. If you're drinking and eating...these won't last. But if you're not really doing anything to wipe the glosses off your lips, they'll stay a decent amount of time.
24 Full Eye Shadows

[Review] Tarte Carried Away Collector's Set
There are 24 FULL size eye shadows in the set...to me, that pretty much pays for the entire thing. The eye shadows come in a variety of finishes: matte, satin, and shimmery (with glitters).
I love the colors Tarte decided to include in this set...it's a really good combination of neutral colors, smokey colors, and even a few fun colors that's sure to pop out!
The pigmentation on these are really good! Again, they're not super pigmented but that, to me, makes them more wearable on a daily basis (and you can definitely pack on the color to make them more intense). The swatches were done without a primer and I think they look amazing!
My biggest issue with these eye shadows is that the textures are inconsistent. Some feel really smooth and velvety, but  others were a little more powdery and most of the shades that had glitter in them had a lot of fall outs (my biggest pet peeve...glitter fall outs  are a PAIN!).
To minimize fall outs, make sure you use a primer and use a "patting" motion rather than a "swiping" one.

Amazonian Clay 12-hour Blush in Adventurous

Adventurous is a beautiful shimmering rose that I initially thought would work best with people who were a little more tan. However, as with most of the products in this collection, the blush isn't heavily pigmented, but it is build-able. The blush itself gives you a beautiful glow and although it does contain some shimmer, it isn't overpowering.
This isn't a full-sized blush, but it does come with 1.5g of product. The texture of the blush is very smooth, but I noticed that when I use a brush to pick up the product, it got really powdery.
As far as the 12-hr claim, I can honestly say that it didn't last 12 hours for me. In fact, I had to reapply the blush after 4-6 hours (though it should be noted that I apply this very lightly).
The Blush Brush and Makeup Bag

The blush brush and the makeup bag were such nice additions to this set.
The makeup bag is really functional, but I don't think I'll be using it as my travel bag since it doesn't feel really sturdy and it would be a shame to dirty it up (it doesn't seem the type to easily clean either).  You can use it to store some of your makeup (light uses), but to be honest I think it looks gorgeous to keep as a decorative piece. The bag has two plastic pockets inside and a big mirror in the middle. It also has a slot for one brush (the blush brush the set came with) and behind the mirror is a slot for the eye shadows.
The brush is so soft and it applies blush well. The hairs on the blush brush is flatter, so depending on the brush you're use to, it might take awhile to adjust using this one. Because the Adventurous blush is more on the sheer side, I've really enjoyed this flatter brush to pack on and deepen the blush. I have washed the brush and a couple of hairs did shed, but I haven't  had any issues with it from subsequent washes.
If you still can, I urge you all to pick this set up - you won't be disappointed! They're selling out really quickly, so don't miss out! If you buy/bought this set, please let me know how well you've liked it! What's your favorite piece?
