Review: Sum 37 Secret Programming Essence / Su:m 37 Secret Programming Essence

By Beautifulbuns

In line with my mantra of not sitting on my products for too long a time, I managed to dig this out from my stash to review. Now I’d actually bought this with my mom a year back, but somehow, it just got buried in the stash (I’m pretty sure she hasn’t opened hers either hah – beauty hoarding runs in the family muahahha).

 I say…

The Packaging: It’s a beautiful frosted-finish glass bottle with a cap that has embossed designs. The cap is a screw-on one which opens to reveal a little pinhole. The shape of the bottle is fatter and wider at the bottom and gives a good stability and grip.

The Scent: There’s a slight herbal-lime-citrus scent to it that’s refreshing, but it fades after application.

The Texture/Application: It’s basically a watery liquid that is very quickly absorbed into the skin after some patting – there’s absolutely no residue/greasy or sticky after feel whatsoever. The skin feels refreshed and slightly plumped up.

The Verdict: I wish I’d actually opened this up earlier! After testing it out on half my face for just a couple of weeks, I was majorly surprised~ there was a noticeable difference in my skin. It was smoother and more refined! Like woah -mindblown- I apply this after my Kiehl’s Iris Activating Treatment Essence, and it merely adds a few seconds to my existing routine, and yet improves my skin texture. The official instructions say to apply after toner, but I’m guessing you can use this in place of the usual treatment toners, or as an add-on for extra skincare benefits. There have been no  breakouts either and it doesn’t have any adverse reactions when mixed with non-Korean brands/Western brands. It’s given my skin a slightly more radiant and healthier glow. This has become one of my favourite pre-essence/pre-serum (whatever you might call it) products. Highlyyyy recommended :D
