Review: Su:m 37 Miracle Rose Cleansing Stick

By Beautifulbuns

How was your long weekend everybardy? For my overseas readers, last Friday was Hari Raya and most people didn’t have to work (save for unfortunate souls like yours truly hrmph). Anyhoos, I then spent most of the actual weekend doing absolutely nothing productive save for rolling around in bed and crumpling up the sheets – IKR, such an unglamourous image. Hah.

I did try to make an attempt to clear up the stash (yes, imagine that!), and managed to clear out 2 paper bags of stuff – woohoo! After getting all that dust all over me, I had to make sure it was properly cleansed off, and voila, here’s where today’s product comes in.

Random pieces of what I assume to be rose petals (or something to that extent). Note that these are only on the top of the soap – they’ll run out by about 7 washes. Thank goodness for that – they didn’t serve any particular purpose except for flopping down in the sink.

I say…

The Packaging: It’s a giant lip balm – twist the bottom to dispense the soap upwards, and twist in the opposite direction to retract the soap. It comes with a click-on cap.

The Scent: I wouldn’t say that it has an overwhelming scent of roses, but it does smell pretty nice and fragrant. It’s more of a subtle scent than an actual fragrance – which puts my mind at ease since it does claim to be hypoallergenic (and therefore should be void of any skin-irritating fragrances).

The Application: Basically it functions like a giant lip balm. Simply wet your skin, twist up some of this soap (by twisting the bottom) and then rub it all over your face in gentle circular motions. It will slowly start to lather up. After several seconds, you can put the soap down and use your hands to massage your skin gently (like how you would cleanse using a normal facial foam cleanser). Rinse off as per usual. Now I’ve actually heard some people raving about how “convenient” this is – now that is untrue. After rubbing the soap on the face, there are remnants of lather that will drip down the tube and you’ll end up having to wash the entire tube (after capping it) after every single wash.  It’s not exactly inconvenient either – yes you do away with the risk of spillage should you be transporting this or bringing this on your travels (but then again, what’s what travel-sized deluxe minis are for, no?).

The Verdict: This has to be the first soap bar I’ve used (be it for face or for body) in at least 10-20 years?! And you know what? This is actually really good! Flakey bits of rose petals aside, it actually cleanses my skin very well, leaving it sufficiently hydrated (without that tight-skin feeling), and the texture is oh so smooth and refined! The soap works well with my cleansing gadget as well, lathering up sufficiently. I haven’t had a single spot from using this soap, and my skin seems to be taking to it pretty well. I’m actually pretty impressed and amazed – both at the cleansing /skincare benefits from this soap bar as well as Su:m37 products in general. Go try it out!
