Yoohoo~! Didja miss me didja miss me? I’m so sorry for the hiatus – I’ve been inundated with a lot of work and blog/instagram-related projects that I’ve neglected my blog baybeh. Meh. But fret not, cos I’m armed and ready to go with a bunch of reviews coming your way! First up, this new awesome cushion from Sulwhasoo – it’s an upgraded version of its predecessor (Sulwhasoo Perfecting Cushion Intense) and now comes in 10 shades (availability of all shades depends on your location).
Sulwhasoo Perfecting Cushion EX – SGD$80
I say…
The Packaging: You know the drill by now – it’s a compact casing with a tray that functions as both an airlock and a puff holder. The refill is removeable (but isn’t compatible with my other current favourite, the Hera Black Cushion).
The Scent: Absolutely heavenly. It has a distinctive pine-herbal scent that’s synonymous with the brand.
The Texture/Application: High coverage – I had no concealer on for the above photos, and I’d slept very little for the past few weeks. There was a dewy finish when applied on the hand, BUT when I applied it on the face, the dew factor was toned down significantly (so don’t judge just by swatching on your hand – get the BA to try it on your skin). I could see the radiance on strategic areas like the cheekbones, nose bridge etc. It also brightens up your skin.
The Verdict: Yay, this one levelled up from its predecessor. One of my gripes with the previous edition (the Intense) was the tendency to get patchy on dry skin or when touched up on 5-hour old makeup, but this one did well. It did not get patchy even after many hours of weartime (on oily and dry skin), and did not emphasize enlarged pores/skin bumpiness. It does have a touch of dewiness, but nothing that’s too oily-looking. After about 4 hours of weartime, I spotted some shine that was easily removed by dabbing with a tissue sheet. There’s no oxidisation too – at the moment that I’m typing this, I’ve had it on about 6 hours and it looks almost as fresh as when I first applied it (there’s some fading, naturally). Plus, now that this comes in 10 shades, it’s slightly more inclusive (but of course, it doesn’t compare with 40 shades heh). The oil control on this is medium – you’ll still see some shine if you’ve got combi-oily skin like me. Overall, I like this cushion – good coverage, hydrating without being too oily/shiny/drying, doesn’t oxidise, and buildable.
