Review: SK-II Auractivator CC Cream

By Beautifulbuns

And it’s another new Monday! Even though the year has changed, some staples don’t – like my weight and the way I usually start the week with a base product review. This week, say hello to the new SK-II Auractivator CC Cream!

I say…

The Packaging: It comes in a handy tube that measures about 13.5cm with the cap on and 8.5cm for its body. There’s a pump dispenser, which I always appreciate because it keeps the icky dirt I have on my hands away from the product.

The Scent: There’s a rather strong powdery scent which is rather unique. It creates a sort of aura around the face, so even after applying it and walking to the lift, I can still smell it, kinda like a cloud enveloping my head. woo~~

The Texture: It’s soooo smooth and glides over the skin. Blending is super easy – not that it’s needed.

The Application: Even though it only comes in one shade, it surprisingly matches my skin tone (Laneige 13, MAC NC15-20). Unlike other CC creams that have colour-changing beads (APieu, Shara Shara), this doesn’t have them. What you see dispensed on the tube is what goes onto your face. It gives a medium coverage but has a rather high dewiness factor – if you’re looking for the Kpop dewy-faced look, this is the one for you.

The Aftermath: It has a very lightweight formula that does’t feel too heavy or greasy on your skin. It gives a wonderful rosy healthy glowing skin look – just look at the photos above. The wear time isn’t too high though – I noticed some melting around the corners of the nose and on the oily T-zone barely 2-3 hours after application. After 4-6 hours, it’s mostly gone. It also doesn’t cover the dark eye circles well, so you defo need some concealer if you’re a far-replaced panda/raccoon relative of mine. I’d also suggest using this as a makeup base or for strategic highlighting along the nose bridge as well as the cheek bones.

The Verdict: This is great for creating that healthy glow or for a beach weekend when you don’t feel like putting on too much makeup but still want some lightweight coverage and decent sun protection (it’s got SPF50+ and PA++++). For those who have oily-combi skin types like me, it probably won’t be able to last the whole day against the sebum production glands.
