Wearing VL01 Lavender Basket: A beautiful, subtle light lilac shade that creates a perfect baby-like flush – this could be one to fake the guys with the “I woke up like this” line.  Face: MAC Lightful C Quick Finish Compact

I say…

The Packaging: It’s a super cute little compact (fine, so it’s actually just a smaller version of your usual BB cushion compact measuring 6cm across and 2cm tall). It comes with your usual airlock tray that functions as a puff holder, an inbuilt mirror and a puff. Now what makes this different from other cushion blushers (such as the Shu Uemura one) is that there’s actually a netting cloth over the cushion (that you don’t get to see). The blush sort of oozes out once you press on it gently. However, the netting cloth doesn’t quite work as well as I want it to – it captures the blush and holds it there (instead of letting it flow back downwards into the cushion), so you end up with a rather gooey mess as time goes by. What’s more, do not store this blush standing upright – place it flat, or else it’ll leak downwards.

The Scent: A very faint fruity scent that’s only noticeable when you shove your nose up close.

The Texture: The blush initially comes across as being strongly pigmented, but once you blend it in, you’ll notice that the color is a medium level. It is easy to blend cos of its watery consistency, and settles into a matte finish with a dewy glow.

The Verdict: The blush itself is easy to blend, has medium staying power (provided you don’t brush against the cheeks cos the color may come off), and has a wide range of colours. That said, I have a slight issue with how messy it can get over repeated usage (I find myself having to replace the sticker before closing the airlock tray) + the fact that storing it standing upright will result in some of the blush leaking out of the netting cloth. Currently, I apply it using just my fingers to pick up the product and blend into the cheeks – I don’t use the cushion cos it can pick up quite a lot of product and get rather gooey, mushy and wet. Just use with care and caution, and you’ll have lovely flushed cheeks😀
