Review: Mille Beaute French Kiss De Star Lipstick in Ruby Crush

By Beautifulbuns

A new year calls for a new lipstick.. not. I know, I know, I’m just justifying. But hey, to a beauty junkie, any reason suffices hurhurhur. Anyway, I’ve just discovered this beauty brand called Mille Beaute (Mille Beauty). It originates from Bangkok Thailand, but its produceds are manufactured in Korea, so I guess you can say I’m staying true to my K-roots? Heh.

I say…

The Packaging: A glossy (fingerprint-magnet) gold angular casing with a magnetic closure. The bullet has a star-shaped cross section that is pretty much gone after 5 or so uses – which I’m not complaining about. It may be super pretty to look at, but it doesn’t do much to help in accurately applying lipstick, especially along the outline.

The Scent: A mild fruity scent.

The Texture: It glides smoothly across the lips without dragging, and is hydrating. The color pigments are of a medium level – one coat is enough to give you a nice daytime pinkish-red, while several cost will give you a richer and slightly more intense color. There are very miniscule iridescent sparkles in this lipstick, but it’s not really obvious – they do help in creating the illusion of plumper, more glossy lips though.

The Verdict: I actually really like this lipstick. It’s very suitable for daytime wear – the color isn’t supremely intense, but it does give a good (medium level) color payoff.  It also has a lightweight and hydrating finish, and leaves a slight tint on the lips after it wears off. Those who aren’t into pigmented lipsticks but don’t want to rely on tinted lip balms or glosses can opt for this one. Ruby Crush is a beautiful pinkish-red (more cool/blue-toned red with hints of pink). You can check out the rest of the colours in the range here (but I’m not sure if they’re still available anymore, cos I only saw a couple of colours when I was at the Mille Beaute stores in Bangkok).
