I know Valentine’s Day was just over, but it doesn’t mean that it’s one less excuse to be giving loving smooches to people you love. If you’re more of the stoic kind like me, maybe applying this will entice more people into smooching you? It does give really gorgeous Kylie Jenner lips, and for the first time ever, I feel somewhat like a drag queen hurhurhur.
Make Up For Ever Pro Sculpting Lip – S$48
Having a Monday blued-out face when I took this shot, but if you wanna see how I vaguely look like with this lippie one, click here :D
I say…
The Packaging: It comes in a convenient dual-ended auto-pencil format. One end has a click-open cap, and the lipstick is via a retractable twist stick. On the other end is a twist-open cap (that also holds the powder inside the cap) that opens to reveal a sponge-tipped applicator for the highlighter.
The Application/Finish: The lipstick is a semi-matte finish that goes on so smoothly and is so, so pigmented – 1 coat is all you need! I’m very impressed with the lipstick to be honest, and the shade color is a lovely wearable plum shade. I’ve always been a huge fan of hot pinks, and this is actually one of the rare dark(er) shades that I love. The highlighter powder isn’t the finest (very slight clumping) but it’s fine, cos you’ll need to blend it in with your finger tips anyway. Simply dab, dab, dab onto the center of your lips and let your fingers do the blending.
- Note: Be very, very sure to wipe the sponge tip before replacing the cap, or else the tip will pick up the lipstick color and turn into an even clumpier sponge tip once it picks up more highlighter powder from the cap.
The Verdict: I love this! The lipstick color is pigment, smooth, easy to apply and even rather accurately draws along the outlines and corners of the lips with its rounded tip. Despite my lips being dry and flakey, it fills in the lips nicely and plumps it up. The highlighter powder is also easy to apply and blend (even for makeup noobs), and the overall finish is one that’s pretty natural and pouty! It’s actually really fun tbh :D The powder doesn’t ever get clumpy on the lips, and after your usual eating and drinking, it fades to leave a slight rosy tint on the lips. The price point is slightly on the higher side though – I’d call this an indulgence which you can splurge your angbao monies on. :D
