Ah, the good ole’ days. I remember when I was 18, fresh and raring to go clubbing from the sun don’t shine till the sun was frigging in my face. Back then, I’d head over to my friend’s place to prepare together (well, it was more of her preparing and me just watching), and when we were both ready, we’d head out to take the bus (IKR – student budget sucks). As the night breeze blew gently, strands of hair would fall across our faces and onto our freshly-glossed lips – and get stuck there. muahahaha. Lip glosses used to be a major staple for me, but I haven’t found anything that’s got a strong color intensity until I swatched all 35 shades of the new Make Up For Ever Artist Plexi-Gloss recently. Here’s the full review.

As mentioned in my swatch fest post, the range is divided into P and non-P : P is for Pearl (aka shimmery sparkly gloss), while the ones with just the numbers are the Pure colours (aka solid colours without any sparkles or shimmers).
They’re also categorised as follows:
- 100s: Nude and beige [100Ps: Nude and beige with sparkly pearly shimmers]
- 200s: Pinks [200Ps: Pinks with sparkly pearly shimmers]
- 300s: Corals [300Ps: Corals with sparkly pearly shimmers]
- 400s: Reds [400Ps: Reds with sparkly pearly shimmers]
- 500s: Artist colours [only 502P has sparkly pearly shimmers]
I say…
The Packaging: Nothing out of the norm here – a cylindrical tube with a cap that’s attached to the sponge applicator. Now the applicator is soft and pliable (bendy), and feels great against the lips. There’s an indentation in the applicator which doesn’t really do much for me (it doesn’t benefit nor does it hinder).
The Texture: It’s a rather lightweight non-gooey /non-slimy texture. However, I’d be lying if I didn’t say that this is sticky – yes ‘mam, when I was swatching all 35 shades on my arms, it was really tough to remove them even with a wet tissue. The same goes for the lips – it does feel slightly sticky on the lips and when you smack them together. When it wears off (after the eating and drinking), the lips will have a beautiful rosy tint (not for the beige/nude family of colours). However, it still feels slightly sticky on the lips.
The Verdict: If you’re looking for a super intensely coloured lip gloss with high gloss factor, try this one. The color payoff is ahmayzzzing for a lip gloss – it’s almost like a melted lippie/lip tint. It’s lightweight and the shine is also not to be trifled with – when I was taking photos, I was trying real hard to avoid the reflective shine. Just make sure to not wear this in places where the wind is strong – I kept having to pull the hair strands away from the lips, and it sometimes left pink streaks across the face. Not smexy at all. Alternatively, wear your hair up hurhurhur.
