During one of my first few trips to Korea, I was so enamoured that I bought about 5-8 highlighters at one go (I know, I know, it’s insane). But thankfully, since then, I’ve been slowly (and surely) using up all my highlighters. In fact, I’m glad to report that one of them (the Etude House one) has even hit pan. Yay! But it now means I have to hunt for another suitable replacement, and by the looks of it, this MAC one is it!
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Lightscapade
I say…
The Packaging: A magnetic closure compact, similar to that of the MAC Mineralize Blusher. Easy to use, convenient, but isn’t too easily opened (so it doesn’t come loose while in your handbag). Oh wait, did I mention the gorgeous textured surface?
The Texture: It’s a super duper fine powder with high shine that’s believable – not the Edward Cullen type of shine, but a more radiant glow. It’s more of a pearl-shine (vs a pink or gold tone), and doesn’t sink into the enlarged pores much. Since a little goes a long way (take it easy, you don’t have to do a powder bomb on the face), there’s not much oxidisation either. Since its purpose is to enhance/highlight/draw attention to any spot that you apply it to, make sure to sufficient hydrate your skin or else you’ll be drawing unwanted attention to flaky/dry skin spots. Alternatively, try a liquid highlighter like this Highlight Beam from 3CE.
The Verdict: Definitely something I would continue using (and by the looks of it, it’s gonna take a long, long time before I hit pan). Just a little dusting with a makeup brush goes a long way in creating a natural highlight/ radiance to bring our your inner gorgeousness :D If you’re looking for something with a stronger shine power, try Hera’s Amethyst Highligher. Alternatively, for an even more toned-down highlighter, try KPalette’s 3D Palette.
