Happy first work/school week of 2015 everybardy! I’m really glad that the festive season is over – it was crazy busy! The brother had a Secret Santa thing for his office, and dragged me along on his shopping trip simply cos you know guys aren’t much of shoppers. This set from Laneige’s 2014 Christmas offering was among one of the ideas I suggested that the bro didn’t shoot down (fine fine, so my inner auntie may like receiving fluffeh white absorbent towels for Christmas but others may not).
Laneige Sparkling Party Holiday Hand Care Gift Set – SGD$29
If my memory serves me right, this is Laneige’s first hand cream productTwo types of hand creams for differing skin care needs.
I say…
The Packaging: As if the gold and pink box packaging wasn’t enticing enough, the box flap opens up to reveal not one, but two full-sized tubes of hand creams with cute little icons. The caps are screw-on types.
The Scent: I love, love, love the scent. It’s a fragrant-floral-citrus type of scent (rose-lovers, sorry to disappoint but there’s no rose scent here). It’s not particularly strong – you can smell it while applying it, but once you start typing (aka bringing the hands to a further distance away from the nose), you won’t be able to smell it. I’m not fussed about it – if you want a super strong scent, that’s what EDPs are for :D
The Texture & Effects: This set comes in two variations – the Soft Hand Lotion Moisture and the Rich Hand Butter Antiaging, which are pretty self-explanatory.
- The Soft Hand Lotion Moisture is a cream-gel type and is slightly, just ever so slightly more watery than the Rich Hand Butter (but still doesn’t drip). It’s easily spread and absorbed and leaves the skin feeling refreshed and significantly hydrated.
- The Rich Hand Butter Antiaging is a cream type and is (as implied by its name) richer and butter-like. It is creamier than the Soft Hand Lotion and take an eensy weensy bit more effect to massage in and be absorbed. You’ll get firmer and bouncier skin from this hand cream – however, I’d advocate taking a couple of minutes to massage and let it be thoroughly absorbed.
The easiest way to describe these two textures is that the Rich Hand Butter is akin to butter 5 minutes after you take it out from the fridge. The Soft Hand Lotion is like butter 10 minutes after you take it out from the fridge.
Overall: Hand creams are a much overlooked part of a beauty regime – for me, they’re essentials cos I have to show the back of my hands in every blog review I do (don’t judge mah hands pleaseeee). I like that this set has two types of hand creams (and not just the usual run-of-the-mill one-type), cos like the skin on your face which goes cray cray from time to time with various skin conditions, your hands can sometimes go ballistic too. These two full-sized tubes should last you at least 6 months or more, and at $29, is total value for money.
